Question: Will using an Kennel Jet System damage my floors and walls?

Answer : No! Damage starts to occur on floors and walls at about 1,700 to 2,000 psi. The 1000 psi offered by the Kennel Jet provides excellent “scrubbing” action without causing damage.

Q: What is the warranty on the Kennel Jet System?

A: The Kennel Jet has a one year warranty on the motor and frame, and a 5-year warranty on the pump. Accessories, including nozzle tips, guns, wands, hoses, brushes, injectors, hose reels, nozzles, GFI units, thermal relief valves, and filters have a 90-day warranty.

Q: Who do I call if the Kennel Jet System needs service?

A: The manufacturer has service companies throughout the United States that are just a toll free number away. Call Cascade first for initial reporting and troubleshooting

Q: Where can I get chemicals?

A: Cascade Companies carries a full line of cleaning and disinfecting chemicals by Animal Health Technologies. Refer to our products page.

Q: What chemicals can be used in the Kennel Jet System?

A: Most any liquid detergents, degreasers, and disinfectants can be used.  Because of the system design, you can also use bleach in the system as long as you rinse the chemical injectors thoroughly by placing the intake hose in a gallon of warm water immediately after use.

Q: Why are there two nozzles on the gun of my new Kennel Jet System?

A: One of the nozzles is for selecting high pressure and one is for low pressure. Any time the low-pressure nozzle is selected and one of the chemical selector dials is selected, chemical will automatically flow through the system and will be diluted at the correct dilution ratio. When the high-pressure nozzle is selected the chemical will be automatically shut off and it the system will begin to dispense high-pressure rinse water to “scrub” and rinse the kennel.

Q: How do I set the dilution ratio on the Kennel Jet System?

A: Find out what the dilution ratio for the chemical you want to use. For this example, lets say the dilution ratio is one once per gallon. Pour the liquid chemical you will be using into a container that’s graduated by ounces. Place one of the chemical drawtubes from the Kennel Jet into the container. Turn the corresponding chemical selector knob to the right and stop on number 3. This is the typically the correct metering for a 2 ounce dilution (64:1) product and will give us a starting point. Turn the power switch of the Kennel Jet to the on position. Select the low-pressure nozzle on the gun. Pull the trigger of the gun and spray water for exactly one minute. After one minutes time, look at the container and see how many ounces of chemical where taken out of the container. Using the example of a once ounce per gallon dilution ratio, and since the Kennel Jet dispenses 2 gallons of water per minute, we would want 2 ounces of chemical to be drawn out of the container. If there was three or four ounces taken out of the container, turn the selector knob to the left and stop on number four and repeat the above steps until two ounces are drawn out of the container in one minute’s time. If there was less than two ounces of chemical drawn from the container, turn the selector knob to the right and repeat the steps above until the correct amount of chemical is drawn from the container. Once you find out exactly where the selector needs to be set to draw the correct amount of chemical, tell all employees where to set the dial.

Q: Are there different voltages offered for the Kennel Jet System?

A: Yes -There are different voltages offered just so we can meet your needs. Whatever electric supply you have – either 115v or 230v, we can send you the correct Kennel Jet. All Kennel Jet systems are single phase.

Q: Why are different pressures offered for the Kennel Jet System?

A: Some of our customers like to have more water volume and some like less. Contact us for optional factory settings that may meet your needs.

Q: Does the Kennel Jet Heat the water?

A: No. It is our goal to make their pressure washing systems last with as little maintenance as possible. Systems that have a heating element do not last as long and have more maintenance issues. HOWEVER – you can use HOT water temperature up to 180 degrees.

Q: Do I need special electrical hook-ups?

A: NO! Electric requirements are a dedicated 15  amp /115 volt circuit. The Kennel Jet comes with it’s own ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) and a 25 ft. cord.

Q: Do I need special water hook-ups?

A: Water requirements are a regular garden style hose bib with a minimum of four gallons per minute and a line pressure not less than 30 psi is required.

Q: How much water can I expect to save using the SMT unit?

A: The Kennel Jet use 2.2 gallons of water per minute of continues spray. Compare that to a garden hose that can use 8 to 10 gallons of water per minute! Each facility is different and it depends on how many man-hours of cleaning per day. Please see our savings chart to get a good idea how much water you will be saving.

Q: How long is the hose on the Kennel Jet?

A: The Kennel Jet comes standard with a 50’ hose but the quick coupler allows you to purchase an additional 50 ft. hose.

Q: How much pressure does the hose lose over distance?

A: The pressure drop for a 50’ hose is only about 10 psi and about 20 psi for a hundred foot hose.

Q: Is the hose reel retractable?

A: The Kennel Jet comes with a maintenance free manual rewind hose reel.

Q: How often can I expect to replace the hose?

A: The replacement of hoses depends on the usage and every facility is different. It is not uncommon for hoses to last several years but if the hose has to maneuver around a lot of sharp corners it may need to be replaced sooner.

Q: What's the difference between a centralized system and a Kennel Jet Wall Mounted System?

A: The Kennel Jet Wallmount system is a single operator system that can have up to a 100’ hose. A centralized system is much like a central vacuum system. A main pump is usually located in a mechanical room with stainless steel piping running to connections throughout the rooms.  Please contact us for more details on a centralized system.

Q: Does the high-pressure spray make cross-contamination worse?

A: No! This is a misconception. Using correct spray procedures and a Kennel Jet System will eliminate cross-contamination. The correct procedure is to scoop the kennel first, then apply a soap disinfectant combination chemical like Triple Two or Kennel Kare with low pressure which has no over spray. After giving the chemical the correct amount of contact time to do it’s job, change the gun to Hi-Pressure rinse. The pressure provides deep scrubbing action to power out all the “stuff” from the pores in the floors and walls of the kennels. Scooping first and giving the chemical the correct amount of contact time is essential. If there is any water over spray into the next run, the chemical has already killed the bacteria.

Q: How much does the unit weigh?

A: Shipping weight for the entire Kennel Jet including packaging materials and installation supplies is 115 pounds..

Q: Can I fit 55 gallon drums of chemicals under the unit? How much room will I need to do this?

A: Yes, a 55 gallon drum will fit underneath the Kennel Jet. Purchasing chemicals in drums is very cost effective as well. You can save up to 40%! Click on our products page to see pricing on chemicals.

Q: What are the maintenance issues with the system?

A: Very little maintenance is required for the Kennel Jet System. Depending on the usage, the oil in the pump need to be replaced about every 4 to 6 months. Also, the external filter needs to be changed about the same time

Q: How often should I use the Trap Gun in my drains? Can it clear clogged drains?

A: Using the Trap Gun once a week in floor drains will help them stay debris free and flowing nicely. The trap shooter clears clogs such as hair, dog food and other clogs.
